 The Brolton Group is delighted to have received a Highly Commended award in the prestigious Process & Control Engineering (PACE) magazine’s Zenith Awards which honour projects that evidence “leadership in engineering and technological excellence and innovation”.
 The Highly Commended Award, in the category of Food and Beverage, acknowledges Brolton Group’s “Vision Lock Detection System” for one of the world’s largest packaging solutions suppliers. The solution was developed to provide a reliable, efficient, versatile and cost-effective way to alert operators when the locks on beverage packs failed to properly engage.
Brolton Group’s solution was carefully developed, based on the use of a vision camera system as opposed to sensors. It integrates seamlessly into the customer’s architecture, and achieved the desired result without extraneous requirements– such as machine changeovers – that would impact on production performance.
Upon installation, Brolton Group’s solution worked immediately, dramatically reducing the incidence of lock failures that were not detected. The customer very quickly ordered a further three units to further reduce production failures, giving them a source of competitive advantage in the food and beverage industry.
 For Brolton Group, the Highly Commended Award represents endorsement of a project that required them to not only develop the solution of best fit, but to assuage the concerns of the client’s internal engineering team who envisaged a very different, more complicated solution.
