Bulk Handling - Brolton builds "green" plant
ABHR Cover 2008

Quite how an emissions trading scheme will play out in the bulk and powder handling sectors is anyone’s guess.
But with oil and energy costs soaring, and water becoming an increasingly scarce resource, the pressure is on for bulk and powder plants to reduce their footprints.

Australian Bulk handling review's cover story July/August describes how a Queensland business – render and paint group Rockcote – and its engineering partner, Brolton Group, built a highly sustainable, state-of the-art bulk handling plant. The facility includes a range of novel environmental solutions, while delivering around 40,000 tonnes per annum of a pre-mixed plaster product in an absolutely consistent fashion.

The plant is completely self-sufficient in terms of its water usage, while a gravity feed system and energy-efficient machinery combine to reduce power bills.
For an example the use of a fluid bed dryer from Ventilex delivers energy savings of around 20% over a rotary drum dryer.
