Bulk Handling - Powder handling equipment

The absolute bedrock of dry powders handling is selecting the right systems – a process that can involve delving into a myriad of technologies and a jumble of jargon. By way of a guide, the Brolton Group’s Barry Elliott draws on the company’s decade-plus history in mechanical and materials handling engineering to outline some key considerations.
Barry Elliott joined the Brolton Group in 2006; capping a career of more than 40 years in developing weighing, packaging and palletizing, batching, continuous weighing and specialist static weighing systems for companies in food, minerals, chemicals and other industries.

Barry’s previous career included with one of the UK’s oldest specialist weighing companies where, as part of the commissioning team, he installed and commissioned packing/ palletizing lines, batching systems and continuous blending plants in more than 30 countries.

Over the years, Barry has worked with evolving weighing technologies: from the days of beam, levers, knife edge mechanical weighers to the latest loadcell systems. Despite this, Barry still employs many of the methods he learned with the old mechanical machines which allow him to take greatest advantage of the newer technologies.
